What are Wall Pack Lights?
They're wall mounted lights used to illuminate entrances, pathways, walkways and building perimeters. These lights usually illuminate building perimeters and provide security lighting and walkway lighting. They're mounted on any vertical surface and provide accent or area lighting.
What are the different types of LED Wall Pack Lights?
There are 3 basic types: Flood, Semi-Cutoff and Full Cutoff.
Flood Style Wall Packs mount to a wall and distribute the light equally outwards and down. They flood an area with light. They are great for security lighting. They are not dark sky compliant.
Full Cutoff Style Wall Packs mount to a wall and distribute the light only downwards. Their function is to light up a wall and the area under a wall. They are a great architectural lighting option. They are dark sky compliant.
Semi Cutoff Style Wall Packs are a high bred between the above 2 types. They still flood an area, but are considerably more dark sky compliant.
Commercial LED Wall Pack Lights: Why choose from us?
Full Cutoff Wall Packs
These lighting fixtures are fully covered except at the bottom. Their unique design ensures they only distribute light downward. Because the light is tightly controlled, the fixtures are usually dark sky compliant.
The full cutoff design ensures that light trespass is reduced or eliminated. The lamp can only be seen when one stands below the luminaire. Full cutoff wall pack lights only illuminate the walls and areas beneath them.
Flood Wall Packs (Forward Throw Wall Packs)
These are the most common of all wall packs we offer. They have the ability to discharge and flood light out from the wall. They are usually mounted on walls and used as flood area lights and security lighting. They can light up path ways, drive ways and loading areas of commercial buildings.
They are not dark sky compliant without the use of a shield mounted at the top of the fixture.
Semi-Cutoff Wall Packs
A semi-cutoff wall pack merges the design of a traditional flood wall pack and a full cutoff wall pack. The luminaire in the fixture is slightly covered by a top that comes down to the front. While the design of the fixture prevents some light pollution, it's not dark sky compliant.
A semi-cutoff wall pack distributes light downward but some of the light goes upward. Just like a traditional wall pack, this wall pack mounts on the wall to provide light to a specific area. The light fixture can also accommodate a myriad of light sources.
Adjustable Head Wall Packs
These wall packs feature a full cutoff or a semi-cutoff design and a tilt mechanism. This allows for precise light aiming.
Adjustable wall packs offer placement of the light module. Light can focus upwards, downwards or between. These wall packs are ideal for outdoor areas and perimeter lighting. They use different light sources and some include photocells. They make perfect replacements for conventional wall packs and floodlights.
1. Efficacy (Lumens Per Watt)
Luminous efficacy is the true measure of a bulb’s efficiency. It indicates the lumens produced for every watt of electricity consumed. LEDs are more efficient than traditional bulbs with a higher luminous efficacy. High quality LEDs have awesome efficacy ratings.
We have wall pack fixtures that are rated between 100 and 140 lumens/watt. We can help you choose the right efficiency.
* Trade off between initial cost and long term savings?
A higher efficiency LED product costs more than lower efficiency units. The savings over the life of the product is more than the initial investment needed to upgrade. So if you're looking to maximize savings when converting to LED, choose the higher efficiency product.
2. Wet Location Wall Packs
IP rating designates a fixtures ability to keep out both dust and water. The first digit of the IP score designates dust protection, the second designates water protection. A water protection score of 5 or above helps protect your fixtures from water intrusion.
MyLEDLightingGuide offers IP ratings of IPx5, IPx6 and IPx7. This allows you to install these fixtures outdoors without worry of water damage.
* What IP Rating do you need?
IP65 is all you will need for most applications. Extreme environments such as driving rain might need IP67 or higher.
3. High Voltage LED WallPacks - up to 480V
100V - 277V
277V - 480V
Are you trying to replace fixtures that are higher voltages, 277V to 480V? We have solutions that cover these higher voltage installations. Our constant current drivers handle everything from 100 Volts up to to 480 Volts. We can handle single or 3-phase power as well. Talk to our sales engineers and we can get your lighting situation taken care of.
* 480V High Voltage Options
Our higher voltage solutions handle both single phase and 3 phase 480V installations. If you have voltage above 277V, tell our sales engineers so we can specify the proper driver.
4. Color Temperature Options
Color temperature or correlated color temperature, measures the temperature of a light source. The Kelvin scale measures a bulb's color temperature. Bulbs with a low color temperature produce warm light (in the red, orange, and yellow spectrum). Those with a high color temperature produce cool light (in blue and white spectrum).
We offer both 4000K and 5000K fixtures for outdoor lighting. Not sure which one you should select? We can help!
* LED Color Choice
To replace Metal Halide, 5000K is a great color choice. If you would like a warmer light, choose 4000K. HPS Wall Packs are around 2300K. Moving to 4000K or 5000K will greatly improve the quality of your outdoor light.
5. Light Quality: Color Rendering Index
Color rendering index defines the color of light. It tells us how well a light source will reveal the colors of items compared to sunlight (the ideal light source). When it comes to HID lamps, people usually complain about one thing: poor light color. Light color is important in outdoor applications. It has a huge impact on clarity and contrast.
Most of our Wall Pack fixtures are offered between CRI 70 and 85. We can special order almost any CRI you might need.
6. Motion Sensors and Photocells Are Available
Motion Sensors and other controls reduce lighting costs by turning off or dimming the lights when people leave the area.
PIR and microwave motion sensors can turn the lights on when motion is detected and off / dimmed when no activity is detected. To dim, these fixtures need a 0-10V dimmable driver. Unlike traditional lighting, dimming LED fixtures is relatively simple and does not affect the life of the led fixture.
And if you're trying to save additional money, nothing saves more money than off or 10% lit.
7. Reduced Light pollution with our LED Wall Packs
In simple terms, this means inappropriate and excessive artificial light. It's comprised of four components that may overlap or mix.
Light Trespass: Light falling where it is not needed or intended. Exceeding the borders of a specific area.
Glare: Excessive bright light which causes visual discomfort. Too much glare can affect visibility
Sky Glow: Artificial light generated upwards, lighting up the night sky
Light Clutter: Excessive groupings of light sources that are bright and confusing. Often found in over-illuminated urban areas. Light clutter can contribute to sky glow, glare or light trespass.
Many areas have certain requirements regarding light pollution. Especially urban areas where dark sky compliance is important. Consider full cut-off or semi-cut off fixtures for these applications.
8. Reduce energy and maintenance costs
Reduce energy costs up to 75%
Our energy-efficient outdoor wall-packs reduce commercial costs and becomes practical and sustainable. With energy savings up to 75%, you can reduce a tremendous amount of energy consumption. LEDs have longer lifespans. We can add motion sensors to turn off or dim the light source when no activity is detected.
Decrease maintenance costs
Our efficient LED wall packs have L70 ratings that last upwards of 100,000+ hours. Less bulb replacement saves costs in many commercial facilities.
LED Wall Pack Retrofit Kit
We have wall pack retrofit solutions where you can install LED inside your existing fixtures. We can easily replace your HPS or MH lights with a simple conversion - its as easy as a bulb and ballast replacement.
