Combined with many optic options, we can provide powerful evenly distributed light to meet any foot candle requirement.
We can produce a free photometric evaluation of your outdoor space to show you how well our LED High Mast lights work, what model is appropriate and what optic provides the best results for you outdoor space.
3. Many Optics Options for Intermodal Freight Lights
15° to 150°
LEDs are directional lights. Their light's focussed and with optics lights up the intended location. They have diodes with individual optics and discharge light evenly across surfaces. Optics control the illumination pattern by delivering specific beam angles and patterns.
Which optic is right for you? Let us do a free photometric with one of our lights and give you some options. We have the experience lighting up large areas from high poles - let us help you get the proper light levels and distribution.
4. High Voltage Lights - from 100V to 480V
We offer both standard voltage options of 100V-277V and high voltage options of 277V-480V. This include Canadian High Voltage standard of 347V.
Our LED Transportation lights also come with 10kVA and 20kVA surge suppression options. This keeps them safe in unsafe weather conditions.
5. 4000K and 5000K Color Temperatures
We offer High Power LED color temperature options in both 4000K and 5000K. 5000K is a perfect replacement for Metal Halide. 4000K is also an option for those states requiring a slightly warmer light. Other color temperatures available upon request.
Both offer a significant improvement over high pressure sodium lights, rated at 2200K.
6. High Impact Rating - IK08
IK international rating is the protection against mechanical wear and tear and the extent it can withstand impact. The rating spans between IK01 and IK10.
Light fixtures with a high IK rating (between IK07 to IK10) are best for high-impact risk environments. Here they are susceptible to mechanical impacts. Low IK ratings, between IK01 and IK07, are well suited to low-impact risk areas.
In dynamic and dangerous intermodal environments, having strong and reliable lighting is a must.
7. Control Ready
High intensity discharge lamps do not work with most lighting controls as they take a lot of time to warm up. In case of a power outage, you have to give them time to cool down before you can switch them on again. LEDs work well with dimmers, motion sensors, photo-sensors and timer switches. You can pair your LED High Power Lighting with controls to switch them on and off or dim them according to the need.
Our LED Transportation and Freight Lights are designed to work with both 3 pin and 7 pin Nema socket enabled controls and smart networks.
8. L70 Light Maintenance - 100,000 hours
One of the biggest downsides of HID lights is that they need a lot of maintenance. The lights have a lifespan of 12,000-25,000 hours. This means electricians must replace them frequently. This procedure that can be labor-intensive and time-consuming. When HID lights are being replaced, it might be a good time to replace the ballasts. This adds to the overall maintenance costs.
Many of our LED lights have a L70 rating of 100,000 hours. Their L70 times are very long and don’t shift colors as they age. The lights are basically maintenance-free. The only maintenance that may occur is washing the fixtures.
9. High CRI - 70+ with options to 80+
One of the specifications you need to pay attention to is CRI (color rendering index). This is a measurement of the quality of light that the fixture is producing. It is a scale between 0 and 100. Sunlight is 100. A general rule is that you need less quantity of light if you have better quality. LED has high CRI making the quality better than most traditional light sources.
One word of caution. High CRI is not required in traditional outdoor environments (90+ CRI). It is great for retail environments where true color representation is important. We would not recommend a high CRI solution for an outdoor industrial application. It is not worth the extra cost.
10. Energy savings up to 80%
Advancements in LEDs and higher lumens per watts configurations are now available. Reducing energy consumption by over 70% is not unreasonable. Using controls like day light and motion sensors, achieving reductions of 80% is achievable. It is important to note that you need to pay attention to a few details.
* Never buy a LED fixture based on the watts consumed. Focus on lumens, pay attention to lumens per watt. You will consume a lot more energy at 100 lumens/watt than you will at 140 lumens per watt. MyLEDLightingGuide products are in the higher lumens per watt configurations. Look for the products efficacy listed in their detail specifications. Or divide the lumens by watts consumed to determine efficacy.
* Look at the number of LEDs the fixture is using to produce the lumens. A fixture with fewer LEDs is driving the LEDs harder than a fixture with more LEDs. Life expectancy may be shorter. More LEDs driven less hard is a better combination of efficient and longevity.
11. Paybacks can be relatively short with LED Intermodal Lighting
Save Money with LED
LED payback = Hours of Use + Reduced Use of Electricity + Rebates
Rebates may be the least important of the three. High hours of use and high cost of electricity will dwarf the benefits of a rebate.
Everyone likes a rebate. We have created many proposals where payback was under 1 year even without rebates. Contact us and we can help walk you through the math.
12. IP Rated Lighting
The IP (Ingress Protection) rating is an international rating standard. It represents the sealing effectiveness against elements such as dust, dirt, moisture, and water. Each number that follows the initials “IP” has a specific meaning. The first number is the level of protection (of the fixture) from foreign bodies. The second number is the fixture’s degree of protection against any form of moisture.
13. cUL and cETL Listed
When a light fixture is given a UL Dry rating, it is certified to be used in an area (usually indoors) that is not really exposed to moisture and water. Generally, any light fixture that is not rated for wet or damp conditions is a dry location fixture.
Transportation and Freight YArd light fixtures require both the UL Damp Rating and the UL Wet Rating due to their frequent exposure to high moisture. Fixtures with the UL Damp Rating are most suitable for sheltered outdoor areas where they are safeguarded from rain, snow, or too much moisture. Fixtures with the UL Wet Rating are best suited to outdoor locations that are not sheltered from rain, snow, or excess moisture. These light fixtures can withstand fog and ocean sprays.
Photometrics - Get it Right before you buy
Why are photometrics important? They allow you to see your area and how it would look under LED Lighting taking the risk out of buying. We can easily run different options with our lights, and provide you with the proper information and guidance. We're here to save you money with LED. But it's as important to get the lighting right.
