2 Ways to Save Money for your Parking Lot

Looking to save money by converting your Parking Lot over to LED? Here's 2 savings you should know about...

Energy Savings

Common Metal-Halide and HPS Parking lot light ranges from 250 to 1000 watts. This does not include the ballast consumption, which can typically add another 15%. Compare that to the LED equivalent parking lot fixture - the typical range is 65 watts to 450 watts, depending on whether you want to maintain the light levels or change them. So right from the start there is an instant energy savings of 50% to 75% by converting to LED lights, and that does not even include the controls you can add to save even more. Depending on where you live, and your cost of electricity, it is not uncommon to see savings of $100-$400 per fixture per year. Depending on the size of your parking lot, and the wattage of your existing HID bulbs, this cost reduction measure can really add up over time.

Maintenance Savings

Lighting maintenance are a large factor in the costs organization with parking and area lighting have to consider. Primarily in part because these lights are often serviced by third party electrical contractors, and they need to use bucket trucks or lifts to service the lights. Because of the long lifespans of LED's, in the 10's of thousand of hours, relative to the short lifespans of HID bulbs, companies can save a lot of money not spent on maintaining HID bulbs.

LED lumen depreciation is very slow compared to HID and light output degrades very slowly over time. As a result, the functional life, often in excess of 100,000 hours,  is significantly longer than that of an HID Lamp.
