Thomas Alva Edison invented the light bulb about one-hundred-and-thirty years ago. Since then, lot of researches has been made on this sphere. But still the credit of inventing the modern form of LEDs rest with Nick Holonyak, Jr.

How to save electricity

1] Even after you turn off your TV you will see a small red light close to the power button, which is energy wasted with no real purpose. Turning off computers, ovens, TV’s, and other electrical appliances completely even for a brief period will produce significant results.

2] Reduce the usage of air-conditioners in your home as much as possible. Use ceiling fans. Also replace the metal blades of your fan with fiber blades for saving up to twenty percent of energy. Again it would be wise to go for split air-conditioning instead of centralized air-conditioning in your new office. Such specific cooling only at places where it is required will reduce wastage of energy.

3] Whenever there is a small quantity of clothes wash it with your hands. Otherwise accumulate all the clothes and wash it at a single shot using the washing machine. Again instead of using a dryer, dry your clothes under the Sun. Sun’s ultraviolet rays help to kill the germs as well.

4] Try not to keep the door of your refrigerator open for a long time. Also by not using the refrigerator frequently you will not only keep the machine in good shape, but will save electricity and keep the food fresh.

5] Cut down costs on your water-heater. Water-heater is an electronic device that consumes great amount of electricity. So when the weather is not that cold bath in cold water. It’s good for your health too!
