A. Yes. The ballast is not required. This is good for several reasons. 1. Ballasts fail, so it’s one less maintenance item to have to worry about. 2. Ballasts consume about 5W of energy for every fluorescent tube it provides energy for (assuming standard T8 4 ft tube)
