Q. Why does it take so little energy to produce light compared to other traditional light sources?
A. Led lighting is extremely efficient converting energy into light. They can be as efficient as 95%, but typical efficiencies are around 80-95. An incandescent bulb produces a lot of heat and comparatively little light. That is why a 12W LED bulb produces as much light as a 100W incandescent bulb and still is cool to the touch.
