Learn More About LED PAR Lamps

LED PAR Lights

A PAR Lamp, short for Parabolic Aluminized Reflector Lamp, is a common lamp found in residential and commercial applications. They are typically the bulb of choice in recessed can lights.

Although they come in a variety of sizes and shapes, the most common are the PAR 20, PAR 30 and PAR 38 lamps. The number behind the word PAR determines their size. A PAR 20 is 65mm across in diameter, a PAR 30 is 95mm and PAR 38 is 120mm.

With the advent of LED technology, the marriage between LED and the PAR Lamp couldn't be more appropriate. LED Lights are very directional, and the design of a standard incandescent or halogen bulb uses a reflector to direct all the generated light downwards. Because LED's are directional by nature, the combination of LED's in a PAR lamp makes tremendous sense.

Three main reasons to convert to LED PAR Lamps:

1. Reduced energy consumption. Converting over from 100W Halogen PAR Lamp to a 17W LED Par Lamp reduces energy consumption by 83 watts.

2. Reduced maintenance costs. Some of our PAR Lamps are rated for 50,000 hours and warrantied for 5 years. If your office runs lights 12 hours a day and average 20 working days a month, your PAR Lamps will work for over 17 years before you would have to replace them. A typical Halogen PAR Lamp can be rated up to 5000 hours (if you get one of the good ones). That mean 10 bulb changes for every 1 LED PAR Lamp.

3. Reduced HVAC Load. LED PAR Lamps run cool, and add significantly less heat when compared to Halogen PAR Lamps. This means you will require less cooling to offset the heat generated by your lights. This adds up to additional savings.
